Ep. 3: Former Guatemalan president on embassy move: ‘They told me it would be economic apocalypse’

Ellie Cohanim sits down for an in-person interview with former Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales and former Foreign Minister Sandra Jovel to discuss Guatemala’s landmark decision to be the first Latin American country to move their embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Filmed on location in Guatemala City, former President Jimmy Morales discusses the special relationship between Guatemala and Israel; overcoming the challenges of his early life; and his vision for the future of his country and world relations.

Ellie Cohanim also interviews former Foreign Minister Sandra Jovel about her own role in helping Guatemala make this historic decision.

About “Global Perspectives with Ellie Cohanim”:

“Global Perspectives” is Jewish News Syndicate’s newest production. Join former U.S. Deputy Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism at the U.S. Department of State Ellie Cohanim, as she hosts some of the most important geopolitical conversations taking place in the Jewish world today. Cohanim, a sought-after speaker in her own right, interviews heads of state, policymakers, thought leaders and activists, in frank and open discussions.

These conversations provide key insights into critical and time-sensitive issues, including the Iranian nuclear threat, the rise of violent anti-Semitism, anti-Zionist activities, Christian and Muslim support for Israel, and the historic Abraham Accords.
