“It has been less than a year since Kanye West released a song titled “Heil Hitler,” the culmination of three years of appalling antisemitism,” Phil Rosenberg, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, said.
The rapper is set to headline the three-day event, dubbed the Wireless Festival, in London in July.
“To have that full commitment and engagement, both at the public level, but also in the faith school system, is incredibly powerful,” Heather Mann, a project officer with UNESCO, told JNS.
The program aims to address “antisemitism as both a rhetorical challenge and an ever-shifting but persistent social reality,” Kelly Carr, an associate professor at the university, stated.
Prosecutors said Dalin Brown, 24, allegedly broke into a house under construction, started a fire and carved antisemitic messages into the walls.
The man was recognized by police officers while attending a court hearing of the three other suspects connected to the case.
The event, which was attended by 70,000, comes just over two months after the rapper, also known as Kanye West, publishing an apology letter for antisemitic remarks.
Israel’s ambassador to Canada called on the country’s leaders to “immediately take all necessary measures to thwart this ticking bomb.”
The Queens district attorney said the defendant was taken into custody after failing to appear in court.
Darryll Pines, president of the public university, stated that the image was “abhorrent and unacceptable.”
“This attack not only affects us, but is also a signal to the Jewish community in the Netherlands,” the Christians for Israel nonprofit said.
Authorities detained Rima Hassan for several hours under suspicion of posting in support of terrorism on March 26.
