More than 5,000 students from 100 universities worldwide took part in the Israel Summit, featuring speakers such as Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), Israeli actor Lior Raz, Moderna CMO Tal Zaks, Waze CEO Noam Bardin, Google Israel CEO Barak Regev, KIND founder Daniel Lubetzky and the Israeli Ambassador to the United States Gilad Erdan.
“Israel is a country where we have an important strategic security relationship, and our team is fully engaged—not at the head-of-state level yet but very soon,” said White House press secretary Jen Psaki.
The deal includes the procurement of F-35 and F-16 fighter jets, SH53K helicopters, refueling planes and the Eitan, a new-generation armored personnel carrier developed jointly by Israel and the United States.
Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Avi Dichter says the lack of a U.S. response to the 2019 attack on Saudi oil facilities showed Iran there would be no price to pay for ramping up aggression.
The two were said to have discussed “regional strategic matters, the Iranian threat and other topics.”
Most incoming American presidents face a Middle East that is “on fire,” but thanks to the Trump administration policies, especially the Abraham Accords, President Joe Biden will not, emphasizes outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.
The services are jointly sponsored with local Jewish youth groups such as BBYO, B’nei Akiva and partners in Israel.
Gilad Erdan takes over from Ron Dermer and will represent Israel both in the United States and the United Nations.
Israel’s President Reuven Rivlin also sent a message congratulating Joe Biden, emphasizing that the ties between Israel and America go beyond political parties and are based on shared values.
“I fear we are headed into a dangerous chapter with the Biden-Harris administration working to undermine the national security gains made in the last four years,” says Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).
“When parents don’t care about Israel, their children won’t either,” says the Zionist American philanthropist, who passed away on Jan 11.
“She will work with our partners to confront the COVID-19 pandemic, lift up vulnerable communities ... and advance American ideals and interests around the globe,” said President-elect Joe Biden.
