Campus Antisemitism

Social-media users called the omission “shocking” and “sickening,” with some suggesting that the inclusion of “non-Jewish Poles” showed that the Union deliberately decided who to include and leave out.
Most schools offer opportunities for young adults to celebrate together. Those who provide these services don’t take the responsibility lightly.
The educational institution was under fire for inviting him to speak, with World Jewish Congress president Ronald S. Lauder saying the school “should be ashamed of themselves.”
“By organizing relationship-building initiatives, students will engage their peers in conversation, organize jointly led programs with student groups, and create initiatives such as interfaith seders, dialogue nights and cultural exchanges,” said Hillel International vice president of communications Matthew Berger.

The event “Conflict Over Gaza: People, Politics and Possibilities” reportedly used $5,000 of federal taxpayer funds from the U.S. Education Department.
“On U.S. campuses across the country, harassment motivated by classical anti-Semitism actually decreased, and significantly so. At the same time, however, the number of Israel-related acts of harassment increased significantly,” wrote the report’s researchers.
“All too often, the topic of Israel is sloganized and simplified; people fail to see the nuances that exist,” said Caravan for Democracy participant and Hofstra University student Deandra Denton.
The hateful words on “The Rock,” an iconic structure at the university, were painted over with a message of “Love Thy Brother.”
Issam Al-Yamani spoke at a building belonging to a branch of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, representing professors and teaching assistants at the university.
The Community Security Trust, a charity that helps Jews with security and fight anti-Semitism, blasted the university as “an utter disgrace” over its handling of the complaint, which consisted of providing the school a copy of the slide blaming Zionism for Islamophobia.
A user by the name of Stewart Meadows, also listed as a “senior member,” started the photo thread in June 2018 and has since uploaded at least 175 photos of Yeshiva University students and staff.
