The Mossad will continue to conduct covert operations inside Iran for the foreseeable future, agency Director David Barnea declared on Wednesday, describing them as a strategic imperative for national security and regional stability.
In a rare video message released by the agency, Barnea emphasized that Israel’s intelligence reach inside the Islamic Republic is extensive and ongoing.
“We will be there, like we have been there,” he said. “We worked for months and years to do all the right actions to get to the right moment.”
Barnea’s remarks follow a series of high-stakes Israeli strikes deep inside Iran—operations in which the Mossad reportedly played a critical role in targeting Tehran’s intelligence, military and nuclear assets.
Israeli media and international outlets have attributed many high-level targeted killings and sabotage efforts against drone and missile production sites to Mossad operatives, some of whom are thought to be anti-regime Iranians.
During the height of these operations, “hundreds” of Mossad agents were active inside Iran, Barnea revealed. He described the agency’s achievements as “unimaginable,” praising the professionalism and precision of its field teams.
The Mossad chief also expressed appreciation for the United States’ intelligence community, particularly the CIA, highlighting an “invaluable partnership.”
He specifically thanked CIA Director John Ratcliffe and American counterparts for their support of key operational decisions that enabled Israel’s recent successes in Iran.
Barnea also credited close cooperation with the IDF’s Military Directorate and Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir.
“Together, we are monitoring every single Iranian project that we know most intimately,” he said, signaling Israel’s intent to preempt any further nuclear advancements or regional threats.
Barnea also reiterated the Mossad’s commitment to securing the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
The agency, he noted, continues to allocate significant resources to the effort, with the Mossad’s operational capabilities also being directed toward tracking hostage movements and pressuring Hamas through indirect channels.
