Ep. 6: Historic Iranian delegation on relations with Israel: ‘We are not enemies’

Ellie Cohanim talks with former Iranian political prisoner Ahmad Batebi and Iranian dissident Ben Tabatabai.

Filmed on location in Jerusalem, Ellie Cohanim joined the two as part of a delegation of Iranian Muslim dissidents traveling to Israel to express the Iranian people’s solidarity with the Jewish state. In this heartwrenching conversation, Ahmad Batebi shares his harrowing experience of undergoing torture and solitary confinement at the hands of the Islamic regime. They also discuss Iran prior to the 1979 Islamic Revolution, and their joint aspiration for a Cyrus Accords peace deal between a free Iran and Israel.

It also airs on the Jewish Broadcasting Service (JBS).

About “Global Perspectives with Ellie Cohanim”:

“Global Perspectives” is Jewish News Syndicate’s newest production. Join former U.S. Deputy Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism at the U.S. Department of State Ellie Cohanim, as she hosts some of the most important geopolitical conversations taking place in the Jewish world today. Cohanim, a sought-after speaker in her own right, interviews heads of state, policymakers, thought leaders and activists, in frank and open discussions.

These conversations provide key insights into critical and time-sensitive issues, including the Iranian nuclear threat, the rise of violent anti-Semitism, anti-Zionist activities, Christian and Muslim support for Israel, and the historic Abraham Accords.

The mayor has shown “a troubling mix of naïveté and negligence toward the very communities he has been entrusted to protect,” Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove, of Park Avenue Synagogue, told JNS.
The federal judge found the banned student group failed to show constitutional violations or evidence that school officials coordinated with Jewish orgs to target pro-Palestinian activism.
The Massachusetts judges halted deportation cases against a Tufts doctoral student and a Columbia graduate student accused by the government of activity contrary to U.S. foreign policy.
“We need to be remembering the memories of those who were killed in the Holocaust, my grandfather being one of them,” Julie Menin, the New York City Council speaker, told JNS.
I do not want to speculate anything, but the environment after the talks is fine,” said Khawaja Asif.
“The Trump administration will never allow America to become a home for foreign nationals tied to anti-American terrorist regimes,” the State Department said.
