Kenneth L. Marcus

The former U.S. Education Department official told JNS that George Mason University Jewish students and professors are right to worry about what’s happening on campus.
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has “spoken out forcefully against campus antisemitism,” Kenneth Marcus told JNS.
Although this year has been “less catastrophic” than the last on campus, “we continue to see extraordinary ugliness around the country,” Kenneth Marcus, of the Brandeis Center, told JNS.
He previously served as assistant secretary for civil rights at the U.S. Department of Education in the Trump administration.
“Antisemitism continues to run rampant on college campuses,” said Kenneth Marcus, of the Brandeis Center.

After two years, he has decided to return to private life.
The end result? Jews need to “get angry” and get active. Attending conferences, acknowledge Jewish leaders themselves, does not address the scourge that’s growing around the world.
Still, in the fight for civil rights, he emphasizes not to be overly alarmist, even on college campuses, where more opportunities are available to Jewish students than ever before.
