Within Our Lifetime
“This was an antisemitic, Hamas-supporting rally,” said Rabbi Yaacov Behrman, a community leader in the Crown Heights neighborhood.
“Instead of raising money for a legal defense fund, maybe they should just stop supporting bad guys?” wrote Mark Goldfeder, director of the National Jewish Advocacy Center.
“Hamas, Hezbollah and the people who support them are not political activists concerned about Palestinian people,” Gerard Filitti, senior counsel with #EndJewHatred told JNS.
One masked demonstrator held up a picture of the slain Hamas leader and yelled, “The martyr is beloved by Allah! Israel is the enemy of Allah!”
Within Our Lifetime, a group whose top activists have been linked to attacks on Jews, organized the “Flood Brooklyn for Gaza Rally.”
“The NYPD will do their best, but I consider this rally a danger to the Jewish community,” Rabbi Yaacov Behrman told JNS.
Group activists have committed “some of the most horrific anti-Jewish violence that New York City has seen over the last three years,” said Mitchell Silber of Community Security Initiative.
Canary Mission: Nerdeen Kiswani, the force behind a violent and aggressive anti-Israel group in New York City, has been chosen to give a commencement address.
The rally was organized by anti-Israel groups, including Within Our Lifetime, Palestinian Youth Movement and Samidoun, among others.
Within Our Lifetime handed out a map to participants with 10 specific addresses of Jewish and Zionist NGOs and foundations across the city.
