MetroWest Jewish Day School announced that the current academic year will be its last after 25 years in the MetroWest region outside Boston.

“As we mark our 25th anniversary this year, we share the news that this will be our final year of operation,” the announcement stated.

Founded in 2003 by Steven and Renee Finn, the school stated that its board and leadership determined that the highly personalized model on which it was built is no longer financially sustainable in the area, despite what it described as extensive efforts to identify a viable path forward.

“This decision was made with great care and reflection,” the school said, adding that they are prioritizing a supportive transition for students, families and staff.

The founders also committed to providing tuition scholarship assistance for current students who continue their Jewish day-school education through eighth grade. The school is planning a “final gala celebration” for April.

The Queens district attorney said the defendant was taken into custody after failing to appear in court.
