Campus Antisemitism

“I would call this a Trump effect,” Kenneth L. Marcus, chair of the Brandeis Center, told JNS.

“The incoming administration is widely anticipated to be far more demanding of defendant universities to be responsive to complainants,” Lori Lowenthal Marcus, of the Deborah Project, told JNS.
The Baltimore Zionist District stated that the University of Maryland School of Medicine opted to “surrender to political pressure.”
“Our clients should be proud of what they accomplished in the face of entrenched opposition,” a lawyer for the plaintiffs told JNS.
“The university is being let off the hook,” a student said, adding that the measures are unlikely to result in “meaningful change.”
Students have been excited about Jewish studies courses and enrollments are “off the charts,” the professor who launched the minor told JNS.
However, the agreement “does not constitute an admission of liability, non-compliance or wrongdoing by the university,” according the U.S. Dept. of Education.
“I appreciate the important steps UCLA took related to the antisemitism concerns we investigated,” stated Catherine Lhamon, the department’s assistant secretary for civil rights.

“Though they are not union members, our clients must still accept the union’s representation,” a lawyer for the plaintiffs told JNS.
