Drone ‘from the east’ intercepted over southern Israel

No injuries were reported in the attack.

The Israeli Air Force intercepted an attack drone launched “from the east” into southern Israel on Thursday morning, the IDF said, using a phrase that typically refers to an attack originating from Iraq.

No injuries were reported in the incident, which did not trigger alarms according to protocol, the military said.

A blast that occurred in a residential high-rise building in the central Israeli city of Yavne, northeast of Ashdod, on Monday morning was caused by a drone launched from Yemen, according to the IDF.

On Nov. 17, a drone intercepted over central Israel entered Israeli airspace from the east. According to the Israeli military, an impact was confirmed near Moshav Kfar Hanagid, which abuts Yavne. A fire apparently sparked by an interceptor fragment was brought under control.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella organization composed of several Iranian-backed Shi’ite militias, has been carrying out daily drone attacks on Israel since the Hamas-led massacre in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have also launched many drones and missiles at the Jewish state over the past year in support of the Hamas terrorist group in Gaza.
