Thirty-eight institutions on the list hail from the United States, 14 from China, eight from the United Kingdom, five from Australia, and four each from France and Germany.
Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) sent a letter warning that diversity, equity and inclusion programs on college campuses fueled divisions and the persecution of Jewish students.
“I am acutely aware of the trials the university has faced over the past year,” wrote the new leader, who holds multiple positions at the Ivy League school.
“Columbia’s next leader must take bold action to address the pervasive antisemitism, support for terrorism and contempt for the university’s rules that have been allowed to flourish on its campus,” said Rep. Virginia Foxx.
Kenneth L. Marcus, chairman of the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law, said hate against Jews had been “perpetuated by teachers and staff.”
The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California ruled that UCLA must not offer programs, activities or campus access to all students if some Jews are barred from them.
The federal government is investigating Liberty University and the Cooley Law School.
