Court orders house arrest after artwork believed to have been stolen in the Holocaust vanished from a family property.

Agents encountered a tapestry hanging instead of a portrait stolen from a Jewish arts dealer.
“Portrait of a Lady” originally belonged to a Dutch Jewish art dealer but reportedly ended up in the home of the daughter of Hermann Göring’s financial adviser.
“It is unquestionable that this would endanger the sense of security of many Jews, especially at this site,” the court said.
Drawing from testimonies, artifacts and histories, it has opened “Touching Memory Theater,” a new project that brings Holocaust remembrance to the stage.
“I thought I had seen it all, but being attacked on the train tracks into Auschwitz is a whole new low,” said Los Angeles native Charlotte Korchak.
