Unknown gunmen shot and stabbed a Hezbollah member in southern Lebanon, said Lebanese security officials on Sunday.

The body of Ali Mohammed Younes was discovered on Saturday evening near the town of Nabatiyeh, two security officials said, according to an AP report. One of the officials said that he was shot four times in the chest and stabbed twice.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency confirmed that a suspect had been detained on Saturday.

Iran’s semiofficial Fars news agency described Younes as a commander who was involved in anti-espionage missions.

Iran-backed Hezbollah has not publicly responded to the killing, though a Hezbollah source was quoted by the AP as confirming Younes was a member.
