“By naming this post office in his honor, we not only remember the man—we reaffirm the values he stood for,” stated Rep. Lois Frankel.
The resolution is set to be voted on in an emergency General Assembly session on Thursday.
“When you desecrate the Holocaust monument, it causes tremendous pain for the community,” Lawrence Greenspon, volunteer co-chair of the National Holocaust Monument Committee, told JNS.
“It is illegal, intolerable and reprehensible for any American business open to the public to refuse to serve Jewish customers,” an assistant U.S. attorney general stated.
“By immersing these cadets and midshipmen in the history of Auschwitz and the Holocaust, we hope to inspire ethical leadership rooted in humanity and justice,” said the chairman of the Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation.
“Roughly half of the American population basically doesn’t consider Jewish hate to be a significant or relevant topic to them,” stated Adam Katz.
“In many cases, our concerns have been dismissed,” Matthew Friedman, of the ADL, stated about raising the alarm on “the type of violent rhetoric we saw espoused during the recent attacks.”
“As soon as we filed this action, within two hours, they returned the flight,” a lawyer for the plaintiffs told JNS.
