A few of the nearly 300,000 people who came to the “March for Israel” in Washington shared their stories with JNS.
The Christian Zionist leader said he was there to deliver the singular message that the Jewish state is not alone.
The rally sends the message to Washington “that we’re appreciative for the support for Israel and for the Jewish community, but that we need to see even more,” said AJC CEO Ted Deutch.
He and fellow Jewish actor Michael Rapaport spoke at the “March for Israel” rally in Washington, D.C., in what organizers call the largest U.S. pro-Israel gathering in history.
If appointed, another nominee would be the first Muslim American federal appeals court judge.
“I want Congress to recognize the gravity of this moment,” said Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO and national director of the Anti-Defamation League.
Jew-hatred “is an affront to the integrity of our laws,” said the U.S. special envoy to monitor and combat antisemitism.
“Know that there is only one outcome in this battle: our victory,” said the former Soviet refusenik and Israeli statesman.
Another 250,000 watched via lifestream, according to organizers.
“We see clearly now. We see naked, virulent Jew-hatred being disguised as a noble call for liberation. And we reject it,” said the Jewish actress.
As a bipartisan group of members of Congress spoke, chants broke out of “USA,” “Never Again” and “Bring them home.”
The actress told the estimated 300,000 that “we are engaged in a battle fighting for a civilized world.”
