The Israel Defense Forces on Monday night published footage filmed by Hamas of Palestinian terrorists planting explosives around 45 meters (148 feet) from the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza.
“This is yet another example of Hamas’s cynical use of Gaza’s civilians and civilian establishments for terrorist activity and a gross violation of international law,” the IDF said.
IDF Givati Brigade troops under the command of the 162nd Division completed an operation last week in the area of the medical facility in Beit Lahiah, north of Jabalia, eliminating terrorists who attempted to flee the hospital, apprehending many additional terrorists and neutralizing areas adjacent to the complex that were rigged with explosives.
Dozens of terrorists trying to escape Jabalia in northern Gaza on Sunday night were killed by Israeli forces, according to the military. Some 100 terror operatives were slain within two hours.
According to the IDF, many terrorist squads were shot in ambushes after being observed fleeing while armed. Intelligence had indicated plans to exploit the stormy weather for an escape attempt, prompting the operation.
The Israeli Air Force carried out a precision strike on Sunday targeting Hamas operatives using a command and control center in Gaza City’s Shejaiya neighborhood, in what was formerly El-Wafa Rehabilitation Hospital.
Members of Hamas’s Aerial Defense Unit were planning and conducting imminent attacks against IDF troops from this location, the army said.
These actions followed a targeted operation over the weekend against a Hamas command center located inside Kamal Adwan Hospital. During that operation, more than 240 terrorists were apprehended, and approximately 20 were killed.
Fifteen among those arrested at the command center in Jabalia infiltrated Israel during the Oct. 7, 2023 invasion, the IDF and Shin Bet said.
