StandWithUs urges UN secretary-general to condemn UNHRC’s discrimination against Israel

The StandWithUs letter was also forwarded to the head of the Commission of Inquiry on Israel, Navi Pillay, who has falsely accused Israel of apartheid and is expected to do so in the COI’s eventual report.

StandWithUs has sent a letter urging Secretary-General of the U.N. António Guterres to condemn the U.N. Human Rights Council’s (UNHRC) latest destructive campaign against Israel, in the form of an open-ended Commission of Inquiry (COI) targeting the Jewish state.

The COI is the latest example of the unprecedented double standards Israel faces at the UNHRC—a form of discrimination that has already been condemned by previous U.N. secretaries-general. In direct violation of UN guidelines, the COI’s selected commissioners all have track-records of bias against Israel; and unlike any COI in history, the COI on Israel has no date of completion, so this “inquiry” can go on ad nauseum. It has also received dramatically more funding and staff members than the UNHRC’s COI on Syria, making it clear how the UNHRC’s obsession with Israel comes at the expense of the U.N. addressing the most pressing of human rights atrocities worldwide, including the horrific suffering of the Uyghurs in China. There is, unfortunately, no shortage of human rights abuses in countries around the world that the UNHRC continues to ignore in favor of their destructive obsession with Israel.

The letter was also forwarded to the head of the COI on Israel, Navi Pillay, who has falsely accused Israel of apartheid and is expected to do so in the COI’s eventual report. The letter supplements StandWithUs’s other efforts including a petition campaign against the COI (sign here).

The letter calls for the secretary-general to address systemic anti-Semitism in the U.N. COI on Israel and the Human Rights Council, and to restore the Human Rights Council’s ultimate purpose—to address human rights at large. Read the letter here.
