Mayberg Foundation hire reflects expanding commitment to entrepreneurial philanthropy

By tapping a strong organizational leader for a key programmatic role, Mayberg doubles down on its hybrid strategy, incubating dynamic operating programs in addition to making grants.

The Mayberg Foundation today announced the hiring of Amian Frost Kelemer as Director of Operating Programs. Kelemer brings over three decades of experience from the Louise D. and Morton J. Macks Center for Jewish Education (CJE) and will assume leadership over all of the Mayberg Foundation’s operating programs in mid-April.

The Mayberg Foundation’s operating programs pursue specialized goals to advance the Foundation’s overarching mission—to proliferate Jewish wisdom and values in the contemporary world. They include the Jewish Education Innovation Challenge (JEIC), which catalyzes radical improvement in Jewish day schools, MyZuzah, which provides kosher, fair trade mezuzahs to Jewish homes around the world, and an expanding portfolio of other program initiatives. As Director of Operating Programs, Kelemer will oversee the Mayberg Foundation’s non-grantmaking activities, ensuring continued growth is grounded in bold and strategic objectives.

Kelemer holds a Master’s degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University and taught at Gesher LaTorah, a CJE program for children with disabilities, prior to a series of roles within CJE. She held multiple leadership positions, including stints as COO and most recently CEO. She spearheaded countless initiatives to strengthen her local community as well as the broader Jewish educational landscape.

“Kelemer is an impressive leader, known for her ability to cultivate community while simultaneously delivering tangible results,” Mayberg Foundation Executive Director Todd J. Sukol said. “Her track record of advancing a strong Jewish future speaks to the heart of our mission at the Mayberg Foundation.”

“I am thrilled to be joining the Mayberg Foundation, an organization that shares my passion for inspiring, educating, and strengthening the Jewish community,” Kelemer said. “The Mayberg team is passionate, driven, and entrepreneurial. I’m eager to play an integral role in elevating and expanding their already impressive portfolio.”
