The Israeli cabinet has approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recommendation to appoint Brig. Gen. (res.) Yossi Karadi as the new director of the Israel National Cyber Directorate, the Prime Minister’s Office announced on Sunday.
He succeeds Gabi Portnoy, who has served in the role since early 2022.

Karadi, aged 49, has over three decades of experience in the Israel Defense Forces. Most recently, he led the C4I Corps as Chief Signals Officer from 2021 to 2024, where he oversaw communication systems and cyber defense operations.
The INCD is responsible for safeguarding the country’s civilian digital infrastructure and essential cyber systems. Karadi’s extensive background in military cyber strategy positions him to address Israel’s evolving cybersecurity landscape.
