Tech tycoon Elon Musk spotlighted a Community Note on his X feed on Saturday that corrected a claim by Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Sept. 25 that “Hezbollah is the victor.”

A Community Notes volunteer pointed out that Khamenei’s claim overlooked the fact that “the entire Hezbollah leadership, including Nasrallah, has been eliminated.”

Musk re-posted with the comment, “Community Note Hall-of-Famer!”

After buying Twitter in the spring of 2022, Musk boosted the Community Notes system, formerly known as Birdwatch, which launched in 2021.

He renamed it Community Notes in November 2022 and said it had “incredible potential for improving information accuracy.”

Community Notes relies on volunteers who flag misleading posts and then add context.

“Contributors are people like you. Anyone on X whose account meets the eligibility criteria can sign up to help,” according to an explanatory comment on X.

Volunteers will frequently add links to bolster their argument and add more context.

In this case, the volunteer posted to a news article reporting that Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, had been killed in an Israeli airstrike on Friday.
