The U.S. State Department’s Rewards for Justice program is seeking “information on the activities, networks and associates of Hezbollah that form a part of its financial support.”
Nabil Qaouk and Hassan Al-Baghdadi “are members of Hezbollah’s Central Council,” while Iraj Masjedi serves as Iran’s Ambassador to Iraq.
A U.N. Security Council member, it joins the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Latvia and others in the determination.

“It might be a first sign for peace that could maybe happen in the future,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this week. But he warned that “there will be no peace with Lebanon as long as Hezbollah is in control of it.”
“This represents the toughest sanctions on Hezbollah ever proposed by Congress,” said Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.).

Jerusalem and the IDF hope that Hezbollah internalizes the risk that it would be taking by attempting another border attack, while bringing attention to its use of Lebanon’s embattled civilians as shields for a dangerous industry of guided missiles.
“Although the specific basis of my exclusion from the U.S. under Section 212 hasn’t been revealed to me, I suspect it may be my acquaintance with senior PKK officials, and that Turkish influence may be behind it,” said Jonathan Spyer.
