A quarter of Samsung’s venture fund invested in Israeli startups in 2018

Companies included Innoviz Technologies Ltd., vehicle-to-vehicle communications manufacturer Autotalks Ltd., 3D-imaging firm Mantis Vision Ltd. and artificial-intelligence company Allegro.ai.

Raising $300 million in 2018, a quarter of the companies that Samsung Catalyst, the venture fund of Samsung Electronics, invested in were Israeli startups, reported Calcalist, citing Samsung Catalyst head Shankar Chandran.

Companies included LiDAR startup Innoviz Technologies Ltd., vehicle-to-vehicle communications manufacturer Autotalks Ltd., 3D-imaging firm Mantis Vision Ltd. and artificial-intelligence company Allegro.ai.

“Samsung has two additional investment arms that operate in Israel: Samsung Ventures, which sources technologies and investments for the company’s business units, and Samsung Next, which focuses on early-stage software companies,” reported Calcalist. “The company also operates a local innovation center.”

Despite Israeli objections to previously reported terms, the official said Washington is confident that all U.S. allies “will get on board” with the emerging agreement.

A JNS analysis suggests that since New York City started telling the public only about percentage change in “confirmed” hate crimes year over year, it has suggested no change, but that if it reported data that way about “reported” hate crimes, there would be a 32% increase in anti-Jewish hate crimes in the city from March to May compared to last year.
