The left sees its grip on the Israel Security Agency and the Attorney General’s Office as being at risk.
The law replaces two spots on the committee with attorneys appointed by coalition and opposition, respectively, instead of members of the Israel Bar Association.
The security buffers in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria are “unequivocally” permanent, said Israeli Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fox.
“As long as Hamas persists in refusing to release our hostages, the pressure we apply will become stronger and stronger. This includes capturing territories,” said the Israeli premier.
The court rejected Attorney-General Gali Baharav-Miara’s demand for a ban on the premier interviewing a replacement for Ronen Bar.

The election of delegates to the panel for appointing and dismissing the AG is the next step toward a final Cabinet vote on Baharav-Miara’s removal.
