Hamas on Wednesday described Iran’s massive drone and missile attack on Israel last weekend as “legitimate.”
The Palestinian terror group described the assault as a “legitimate and deserved response to the Zionist entity’s [Israel]…targeting of the Iranian consulate building in Damascus” on April 1.
Several Iranian IRGC officers, including Brig. Gen. Mohammad Zahedi, were killed during the April 1 strike, which Tehran has blamed on the Jewish state.
Israel has not officially taken responsibility for the attack, but four officials told The New York Times last week that Jerusalem ordered the strike.
“The response from the Islamic Republic of Iran confirms that the time when the Zionist entity could act as it wanted without accountability or punishment has ended,” added Hamas.
Hamas on Sunday welcomed Iran’s launch of more than 300 drones and missiles at Israel overnight Saturday, calling the attack Tehran’s “natural right.”
“We in Hamas regard the military operation conducted by the Islamic Republic of Iran a natural right and a deserved response [for] the crime of targeting the Iranian consulate in Damascus and the assassination of several leaders of the [Islamic] Revolutionary Guards,” the terror group said in a statement.
