The alleged attacker has been indicted on 12 federal hate-crime counts, including two first-degree murder charges.
“This horrific act is part of a broader and deeply troubling rise in antisemitic violence across the United States,” the Federation stated.
Mark Sutcliffe, the city mayor, had said that he was “very disturbed” to hear the vandal was a city employee.
“This harmful conduct is unacceptable, and no one should be targeted because of their religion,” the Manhattan district attorney said.
Rep. Max Miller said that a driver showed him a Palestinian flag and told him that he wanted to kill the Jewish congressman and his family.
The “daily antisemitic statements and actions we see” lead “inevitably” to violence, said Scott Wiener, a Jewish California state senator.
“We’re living in a society where most of our kids know what to do in an emergency situation. The adults need to learn it as well,” Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker told JNS.
“It was an attack on the Boston Jewish community,” the owner of The Butcherie in Brookline, Mass., told JNS.
“We alerted law enforcement, who acted in short order to prevent him from causing harm,” B’nai Brith Canada stated.
A cross was found graffitied inside a nearby apartment building.
“This is the most comprehensive investigation yet into how local infrastructure has been weaponized to promote hate,” Canary Mission told JNS of its new report.
The “New York Post” reported that the federal criminal complaint against Tarek Bazrouk alleges that he received “regular updates” from a spokesman for the terror group.
