The chair of the federal task force against Jew-hatred said that “the previous four years, they did nothing to stop the harassment on these college campuses.”
“The demands on local and state law enforcement far outpace their capacity to meet the need,” the 44 Jewish groups stated, after a gunman killed two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington.
“We will not tolerate criminal acts such as these anywhere in our district, including in our prison system,” the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois stated.
“Perpetrators feel increasingly emboldened to act openly, publicly,” Jaime Kirzner-Roberts, of the Canadian Friends of Simon Wiesenthal, told JNS.
“The recent spike in violent crime against Jewish citizens is deeply disturbing,” stated Kash Patel, the FBI director.
An annual report issued by Tel Aviv University shows highest Jew-hate surge in late 2023; 2024 levels fell but remain above prewar baseline.
“Our federal authorities must bring the full weight of our civil-rights laws to bear in examining this matter,” the Senate minority leader stated.
Crimes against Jews and Muslims “rose for a fourth consecutive year and were accelerated by the Gaza War,” Brian Levin, the study’s researcher, said.
“This recent incident is part of a deeply concerning trend we’ve seen over the past 18 months, with hate crimes and antisemitism rising across Canada,” CIJA’s Richard Marceau told JNS.
