A military source says that given the concern over Iranian suicide drones, air defenses engaged in full. It is unclear why the target was not intercepted; the military is reviewing the incident.
Electronic means were used to take down the device, which seemed to be on an intelligence-gathering mission.
“Hezbollah and the Houthis are linked by a mutual sympathy of two Shi’ite organizations, each working in their arena. This cooperation is part of a system that is headed by Tehran. This is the right way to look at it,” Col. (res.) Shaul Shay tells JNS.
In an interview on an Iran-based Arabic-language TV channel, the Hezbollah chief also said that Israeli drone flights over Lebanon have ceased “due to the superiority of Hezbollah’s air defenses.”
“Hezbollah, with Iran’s support, is undermining the ability to stabilize Lebanon,” says Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz.
The “Your Money Means Drones” campaign has already raised 1 billion Iraqi dinars ($685,000), according to Iraqi media reports.
Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the targeted area “hosts weapons and ammunition belonging to Hezbollah.”
Lt. Col. Ofer Tchorz of the 74th tank battalion said the exercise simulated combat against Hezbollah in Lebanon, in which the battalion would have to navigate hilly terrain and take on a heavily armed enemy that uses guerilla warfare tactics and fights out of populated areas.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken: “It is clear Hezbollah and its associates are more concerned with advancing their own interests and those of their patron, Iran, than the interests of the Lebanese people.”
The report stated that “dolphins have historically been used by the Russian and U.S. militaries to locate underwater mines.”
The legendary Iranian commander might be gone, but Iran is forging ahead regardless.
Among the images were pictures of the drone’s operators engaged in a training exercise, according to the Israeli military.
