A total of 33,771 Jewish victims were shot at the Babi Yar ravine by the Nazis during just two days, Sept. 29 and 30, 1941.

Chaim Luviner escaped Nazi atrocities as a child, eventually arriving in Israel, where he served in the IDF’s Armored Corps. Decades later, his grandson, Lt. Ran Shaked, is a team commander in the elite reconnaissance unit of the 401st Armored Brigade.
The signatories come from the entire political spectrum with varying political views, unequivocally “united by the urgent need to respond to the rising anti-Semitism worldwide.”
A group of young adults from Germany, including direct descendants of Nazi Wehrmacht soldiers and/or members of the SS, met with Holocaust survivors to gain much-needed closure for the sins of their grandparents and great-grandparents.
For the first time ever, the Jewish communities of Bahrain and Dubai will be participating in the Yellow Candle Project.
“The display is a striking visual reminder for the university community while underscoring the need to remain vigilant in the face of present-day hatred and discrimination,” said the administration.
On the first day of Passover, a swastika was found spray-painted on the side of the chemistry building, followed by another one a few days later.
It is to be conferred during an online symposium to mark Yom Hashoah.
This was the second such incident in Europe during the Jewish holiday.
“The details and logistics of executing an event of this scale have been set for well over a year, and it is not feasible to move the ceremony,” said administrators via email.
