For the first time in 12 years, Nefesh B’Nefesh has decided to cancel its annual Mega Aliyah event due to surrounding health concerns surrounding the coronavirus.

Recent public-health developments have led the organization to make the difficult decision to cancel this year’s expo, which was planned to take place on March 15 in Teaneck, N.J., where 1,250 participants from 15 states and 60 Jewish communities from across North America were expected to attend.

As an alternative, Nefesh B’Nefesh will offer broadcast sessions and presentations on an all-encompassing slate of resources for families, medical and young professionals, singles and retirees looking to make aliyah.

Co-founders of Nefesh B’Nefesh Tony Gelbart and Rabbi Yehoshua Fass stated: “Over the last 18 years, we have had the privilege to earn the trust of more than 60,000 olim [new immigrants] as they placed their futures in our hands. We will continue to take all the precautionary measures in order to act in the most professional and responsible way, and wish a speedy recovery to all those in need at this time.”

Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu said: “After years in which sites were neglected or looted, Israel is making historical corrections.”
Using this phrase against Israel is no less absurd than labeling sport-hooliganism and violence at mass demonstrations in the West as officially sponsored, government-sanctioned violence.
“Nearly eight years after the shooting, our gratitude and admiration for the heroic bravery and selfless dedication of the first responders that day endures,” said U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti.
Yitzhak Ben-Hebron escaped Arab riots as a child and later returned to rebuild the Jewish community in the city.
Army Maj. Gen. Jasper Jeffers III said that future conflicts will require allied special operations forces to integrate quickly and operate with compatible systems.
“The strength and resilience you and your families demonstrate throughout the recovery and rehabilitation process inspire the entire nation of Israel,” the IDF chief said.
