The Trump administration deported 14 Iranians on Sunday evening, according to a CNN report on Monday.
The report, citing an anonymous source who is “familiar with the matter,” stated that it was the first known instance in which the administration has officially deported Iranians since the anti-government protests broke out in the Islamic Republic.
An unnamed White House official is quoted in the report as saying that anyone who is being deported has been ordered for removal by a federal judge. “The administration remains committed to using all lawful options to carry out the largest mass deportation operation of criminal illegal aliens in history,” the official stated.
Other Iranians who were expected to be on the deportation flight were quarantined due to exposure to measles, though they will likely be deported at a later date.
