The U.S. State Department announced on Friday that Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf will travel to Israel and the West Bank this weekend for meetings with Israeli and Palestinian officials.

According to a State Department news release, Leaf will be in the region from June 11-14, consulting with officials on deepening bilateral collaboration between the United States, Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Issues on her agenda include Israeli-Palestinian relations, U.S. support for a two-state solution, Iran’s aggressive regional activities and the integration of Israel into the broader Middle East region.

She will be accompanied by Deputy Assistant Secretary for Israeli and Palestinian Affairs Hady Amr and the National Security Council’s director for Israel and Palestinian Affairs, Cynthia Cook.

The group will meet with government officials from both sides, as well as with representatives of Israeli and Palestinian civil society.

“What if the next time the same person puts an explosive in a suitcase,” asked the StopAntisemitism NGO.
“There is no reason in the world for her to receive even a single shekel from the State of Israel,” Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said.
The armed officers allegedly entered an area under Israeli security responsibility, seized the soldier’s weapon and drove him into Area A near Ramallah.
“I know that the only way that I can have some measure of success is with God’s blessing, providence, direction and wisdom,” the rabbi, of Suburban Orthodox Toras Chaim in Baltimore, told JNS.
