In addition to targeting of religious minorities, the resolution urges Tehran to cease “widespread and serious restrictions” on political dissidents such as academics, environmentalists, journalists, bloggers, social-media users, human-rights defenders and filmmakers.
Palestinian Media Watch can reveal that the sum that the United Nations and Palestinian Authority are asking the international community to donate is equivalent to the $355 million dollars the P.A. allocated in its 2018 budget to fund its payments rewarding terror.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, one of the tunnels was already partially sealed by the Hezbollah, despite the fact that the army had affixed a booby trap to prevent terrorists from entering it.
“After further technical investigations conducted independently in accordance with its mandate, UNIFIL at this stage can confirm that two of the tunnels cross the Blue Line. These constitute violations of U.N. Security Council resolution 1701,” stated the peacekeeping force.
In light of the latest attacks, Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs Jason Greenblatt called out member states that voted against or abstained from a U.N. General Assembly resolution last week that required a two-thirds majority to pass condemning Hamas.
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley praised the 87 nations that voted for the resolution as a sign of “a new day at the U.N.”
