Israel will transfer control of the Gaza Strip to the United States after the current war ends, with no American troops required on the ground, President Donald Trump stated on Thursday.
In a Truth Social post, he said that Palestinians would have already been relocated to safer, modern communities in the region.
“The Gaza Strip would be turned over to the United States by Israel at the conclusion of fighting. The Palestinians, people like [Senate Minority Leader] Chuck Schumer, would have already been resettled in far safer and more beautiful communities, with new and modern homes, in the region,” Trump wrote.
“They would actually have a chance to be happy, safe, and free. The U.S., working with great development teams from all over the World, would slowly and carefully begin the construction of what would become one of the greatest and most spectacular developments of its kind on Earth. No soldiers by the U.S. would be needed! Stability for the region would reign!!!”
The comments expound upon the president’s remarks on Tuesday at the White House alongside visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he said that the United States will “take over” and rebuild the Gaza Strip and called for “permanently” resettling residents of the Strip in other countries.
Sen. Schumer (D-N.Y.) is a vocal opponent of the president. In an August 2024 campaign event in front of Jewish supporters in New Jersey, Trump said, “Schumer is like a Palestinian.”
Recalling 15 years ago, Trump said that attacking Israel used to result in the end of a U.S. politician’s career. “The most powerful lobby in this country by far was Israel and Jewish people.
“Today, it’s like what happened? What happened to Schumer? What happened to all these people?” Trump asked. “Schumer is like a Palestinian.”
