In a May fundraising campaign for yeshivahs and seminaries in Israel, the World Mizrachi movement helped more than 20 gap-year institutions throughout the country raise a record $6,048,776 in critical funds to cover infrastructure, educational programming and student scholarships.

The donations came from as many as 12,700 individuals from the United States, Israel, Belgium, Canada, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Now in its third year of running an annual campaign, the department has helped participating institutions raise nearly $17 million to fill a void left when the Israel-based Masa program reduced available funding towards scholarships for northern hemisphere Orthodox Jewish gap-year students.

“These institutions are responsible for making an impact on hundreds of religious young men and women each year at one of the most pivotal times and religiously formative experiences they will have,” stated Religious Zionists of America executive vice president Rabbi Ari Rockoff. “We’re incredibly grateful that so many partners came together to invest in the future of the shanah ba’aretz [‘year in Israel’], and in effect, the Jewish and religious Zionist future in Israel and the Diaspora.”

This year’s participating institutions include Amudim; Ateres Bnos Yerushalayim; Baer Miriam-Maayanot; Bnot Torah Institute-Sharfman’s; Derech Etz Chaim; Machon Maayan; Midreshet Emunah v’Omanut; Rinas Bais Yaakov; Tomer Devorah Seminary; Yeshivat Ashreinu; Yeshivat HaKotel; Yeshivat Lev HaTorah; Yeshivat Torat Shraga; Yeshivat Yishrei Lev; Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim (MMY); Yeshivat Orayta; Tiferet Center; Yeshivat Sha’arei Mevaseret Zion; and Mechinat Ruach HaNegev.

Although AIPAC supports Goldman, a source on the congressman’s campaign told JNS that “it makes no sense to suggest that we’re in the hands of AIPAC.”
“To have that full commitment and engagement, both at the public level, but also in the faith school system, is incredibly powerful,” Heather Mann, a project officer with UNESCO, told JNS.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry called the decision a “major step in holding the Palestinian authority accountable for its long-lasting terror support—financially and legally.”
The program aims to address “antisemitism as both a rhetorical challenge and an ever-shifting but persistent social reality,” Kelly Carr, an associate professor at the university, stated.
The U.S. president told reporters that the next 24 hours were a “critical period” as Iran faces a deadline to reach a deal.
Prosecutors said Dalin Brown, 24, allegedly broke into a house under construction, started a fire and carved antisemitic messages into the walls.
