Ep. 9: Akko: Israel’s no-go zone

In this week’s episode, Ellie Cohanim visits the old city of Akko, the site of violent riots between Arab and Jewish residents in May.

Several mixed Arab-Jewish cities in Israel—places like Haifa, Lod, Nazareth, Bat Yam and Akko, which had been extolled as models of coexistence—saw protests by their Arab residents turn into mob violence during the 11-day conflict with Hamas in May.

Who were the perpetrators of the violence? Has the fragile coexistence in these neighborhoods been shattered beyond repair? And what’s to prevent a recurrence of these attacks?

Filmed on-site, Ellie meets with the residents of these cities to answer these fundamental questions.

About “Global Perspectives with Ellie Cohanim”:

“Global Perspectives” is Jewish News Syndicate’s newest production. Join former U.S. Deputy Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism at the U.S. Department of State Ellie Cohanim, as she hosts some of the most important geopolitical conversations taking place in the Jewish world today. Cohanim, a sought-after speaker in her own right, interviews heads of state, policymakers, thought leaders and activists, in frank and open discussions.

These conversations provide key insights into critical and time-sensitive issues, including the Iranian nuclear threat, the rise of violent anti-Semitism, anti-Zionist activities, Christian and Muslim support for Israel, and the historic Abraham Accords.

The elimination of key figures has weakened the Axis of Resistance’s influence over public opinion and the broader regional system.
The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews will provide relief to 200,000 Israelis as the country endures ongoing war.
“Such rampant incitement in the midst of a war, which receives expression and backing from ‘Channel 12,’ is not only a criminal offense but also a dangerous attempt to weaken the spirit of the people.”
Strikes hit exchange offices linked to terror financing; IDF says Hajj Yusuf Ismail Hashem was responsible for attacks on Israel.
Israeli Air Force tanker aircraft have supported the operations, conducting approximately 2,000 aerial refuelings.
Troops locate two production sites and detain property owner.
