The Combat Antisemitism Movement noted that in the past week, there were “67 new media reports of anti-Semitic incidents—a 36.9 percent increase over last week.”
This was the 13th year that the Rohr Chabad Center for Jewish Student Life at Binghamton University has coordinated the college-led effort for sick children, dubbed “light up a life.”
Speaking during a menorah-lighting ceremony at the Western Wall, the ambassador said he first came to Israel more than 40 years ago when he was just a 15-year-old “little Jewish kid from Duluth, Minn.”
The choice of the 40-year-old Green Party member leaves analysts and the media unsure over effects on the domestic Jewish community, anti-Semitism and Israel policy, among other things.
The 42-year-old singer has talked about her Jewish identity before on social media.
It marked the 10-year anniversary of the organization started by Rabbi Uriel and Shevy Vigler.
“It is clear that [this] is a welcoming community for all. It was special to see the light of the menorah finally breaking through the darkness,” said Rabbi Asher Sossonko, director of Chabad of Miami Shores.
Israel’s ambassador to Portugal thanked President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa for his “long-lasting friendship with the Jewish community in Portugal and with the State of Israel.”
“For those who have suffered loss, this program is life-changing,” said Elana, a mother of two.
“It is just good vibes—this holiday in Israel when I was growing up. You had sufganiyot everywhere, songs, menorahs. I wait every year to celebrate it,” said the 20-year-old Washington Wizards player.
“He’s that talented, and we all know it. He’s a selfless kid who worked hard and stayed within the offense to produce,” said Yeshiva University head coach basketball Elliot Steinmetz of 22-year-old, 6-foot-7-inch senior guard Ryan Turell.
“The volume of events taking place speaks to the tremendous growth we have seen over the past year,” said Rabbi Yehuda Sarna.
