The New York City mayor, who is a harsh and frequent critic of Israel, also wove his plans on affordability and to fight U.S. immigration policy into his telling of the holiday story.
Vijay Iyer’s appointment “suggests that those who write fairly about Israel will be marginalized,” Daniel Mariaschin, of B’nai B’rith, told JNS.

Daniel Kelley, of the ADL, told JNS that when technology companies started investing in the problem of antisemitism on social media, “they were doing it after the horse had left the barn in many respects.”
U.S. President Donald Trump cautioned Tehran that if it didn’t make a deal, the next attack would be far worse than “Operation Midnight Hammer.”
“I’m not in the policy business, but I am in the truth business,” playwright Phelim McAleer told JNS.
“We did not have enough ammunition, and people fell—heroes fell,” said the Israeli premier.

Josh Stein said the Capitol building will be lit with yellow lights as a symbol of the state’s “commitment to rooting out antisemitism and preserving history.”
“Vague nondescript definitions give Jew-hatred cover,” said alderman Raymond Lopez. “That ends now.”
The legislation would require the annual reporting of incidents of Jew-hatred, as well as investigations.
