Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) said during a primary debate on Saturday that federal agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement are making the country more like Nazi Germany.

“They are turning us into Nazi Germany by saying they are gonna go door to door,” Crockett said during the debate against James Talarico, a Democrat Texas state representative.

Both are running for the Senate against Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas).

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum stated in 2018 that “sloppy analogizing” of things or people to Nazis is an “oversimplified approach to complex history” that “is dangerous.”

The Associated Press reported that the two Democrats “differed more on style than substance in their first debate for U.S. Senate in heavily Republican Texas.”
