There were 14 members of my family who boarded the so-called “Kasztner train” on June 30, 1944. Eleven members of my family were allowed to leave Bergen-Belsen after six weeks. Only three of us (my parents and I) of the 14 stayed until December.

The legislation, which is 2,741 pages long, includes millions to protect synagogues, Iron Dome and Holocaust survivors, and is the culmination of months of negotiations.

The move has stunned many inside and outside the IDF, both due to the unilateral nature of the decision and due to the choice of alternative destination.
This allocation includes $47 million in support for social-welfare agencies in Ukraine, which is facing a Russian invasion that has created a humanitarian disaster.

The 1909 painting “Bild mit Haeusern” (Painting with Houses) was claimed by descendants of the Jewish art collector Emmanuel Lewenstein after his son and wife sold the painting to the museum under stress in 1940 five months after Nazi Germany invaded the Netherlands.
