“When someone is only condemning the policies of Israel and not saying a word about the policies of Sudan or Somalia or Iran or Iraq or Syria or Turkey, then one has to become suspicious that it’s really Jew-hatred,” Morton Klein told JNS.
The Michigan Democratic Senate primary reflected anti-establishment sentiment but did not diminish the strength of pro-Israel Democrats nationwide, according to Brian Romick.

Alyza Lewin, president of U.S. affairs at the Combat Antisemitism Movement, stated that El-Sayed’s victory “should raise alarm bells for Jewish Americans across the country and everyone who believes in civil rights for all.”
“My jaw kind of hit the floor for a second,” an attendee of the event told JNS.
The Republican advanced in the open primary, as did Rep. Adam Smith, who was some 30 points ahead of Basler.
At press time, El-Sayed held a narrow lead of 49.7% over Stevens’s 46.3%, with 69% of votes counted.
The pro-Israel moderate prevailed in a rematch of one of the most closely watched races of 2024.
